Our teaching and facilitation team brings deep experience in mindfulness, leadership development, and personal growth. Some lead our mindful leadership training programs, guiding participants in cultivating awareness, connection, perspective, and potential. Others teach our live, weekday community meditations or provide one-on-one mentoring to support individuals in building and sustaining a meaningful meditation practice. Each plays a unique role in helping individuals and organizations grow through the integration of mindfulness and leadership.

april - Our Teachers and Coaches

April Fort

Community Meditation Teacher and 1:1 Mentor

April has been teaching yoga and meditation for over 13 years and been practicing for over 20. She has three boys who have all been doing yoga since before they were born. Yoga and meditation are her passion; she is a true believer that it is for everyone. April still loves French fries and pizza on occasion, with her tofu and broccoli. She enjoys a margarita too, with salt, and doesn’t believe your yoga and meditation practice should keep you from the things that you like, love, that make you feel good. It should make those things better! The biggest thing she has taken from her practice and teaching is to stay in the moment. To embrace the little things that are fleeting, even common: a newborn’s smile, a good dessert, or even dirty children who deny being dirty.

Clayton Platt - Our Teachers and Coaches

In 2021, Clayton completed a two-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, accredited by the Awareness Training Institute and the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley. Since then, he has led hundreds of programs, including free weekly community mindfulness classes that make consistent practice accessible to all. Clayton’s teaching style is warm, experiential, and deeply rooted in both science and personal insight. For him, mindfulness opens a space to slow down, listen deeply, and live with greater intention — an invitation he loves extending to everyone he works with.

Headshot Cathy Headshot 07 15 25 - Our Teachers and Coaches

Cathy Hartenstein

Program Facilitator

Cathy has been practicing mindfulness and meditation for more than 25 years and brings a rich blend of experience in teaching, coaching, and leadership development to her mindfulness facilitation. Certified in EFT, Matrix Reimprinting, and NLP, she integrates these powerful modalities with her extensive background in personal growth and course design to support deep transformation. As a professor at five different universities, she has further deepened her ability to meet learners where they are, guiding them toward greater self-awareness and empowerment. Cathy’s leadership roles have shaped her practical and compassionate approach. Her work guiding individuals and organizations through change informs how she creates accessible, meaningful mindfulness experiences that foster resilience, clarity, and connection. Cathy’s greatest hope is that students leave her sessions with a deeper connection to themselves—more grounded, more open, and more empowered to meet life with clarity and compassion. She believes that mindfulness is not just a practice, but a way of showing up fully in each moment, especially in times of challenge or change. She’s inspired by the words of Thich Nhat Hanh: “Meditation is offering your genuine presence to yourself in every moment.” For Cathy, this is the invitation at the core of her teaching: to meet each moment with grace, awareness, and the power of being fully aware.

brenda - Our Teachers and Coaches

Brenda Vallieu

Community Meditation Teacher and 1:1 Mentor

Brenda has over 19 years’ experience in corporate learning and development, primarily in leadership development and coaching. Through customized coaching and training programs, she best sums up her work as, ‘I help leaders focus on their inner game, so they can bring their best selves to the outer game.’ Brenda’s journey into corporate L&D began while working at a NYC-based healthcare company, when she was asked to spearhead the company’s first training department. Since then, Brenda has served in management roles for two global organizations, Foot Locker, Inc., and Tiffany & Co. Sharing mindfulness and meditation practices with her clients contribute greatly to how she helps leaders create the right internal conditions to thrive in the modern world. Brenda credits mindfulness in helping her through some of her own most challenging times, like her father’s cancer diagnosis, a move from NYC to Florida to care for her mom, and the (difficult) decision to leave corporate and go out on her own in 2016. She jokes that she was once a “closet meditator” before mindfulness became “okay” to talk about at work. She’s thrilled that times are changing.
